For weeks after the New York Post broke its story about Hunter Biden’s shady dealings, we were told by the mainstream press that it was all “fake news,” foreign propaganda, and wildly unconfirmed claims. We also bore witness to social media giants damping the story on their platforms, with Twitter suspending the Post’s entire account for two weeks or so, with all sorts of risible assertions and pretzel logic offered as justification.
Now that the election is over, and their guy won, all these scale-tippers are back to pretending they’re doing their proper job.
Meanwhile, without their having done a single thing other than get the Obama band of fossils back together for another go, Biden and Harris have been collectively named as Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year.”
For what, exactly? Squeaking out a win that should have been a cakewalk, given Trump’s countless unforced errors and the press’s massive scale-tipping, and actually losing seats in the House in the process? Biden hid in his basement these last few months, and Harris’s selection as veep continues to prompt the scratching of heads. Yet they, six weeks before even being sworn into office, are the Person of the Year?
The Nobel committee at least had the modesty to wait 9 months before announcing Obama’s Peace Prize.
Over in my Facebook page I’ve elaborated at some length why and how that happens but ultimately it’s because we all live in a hole and the more we dig the more things look normal around us. We all live in different holes and levels and can see more of others, or not. Some call it intelligence but I think it’s something else.
