Let us contemplate, as the Biden administration rushes to cripple the American economy with brute-force carbon reduction measures as part of its “green”/global warming agenda, that nothing America does will make one whit’s worth of difference to global temperature increases if the rest of the world doesn’t do the same.
China has only promised to stop increasing emissions by 2030, and if you believe this promise, I suggest you ponder China’s reported COVID-19 stats:
A nation with 18% of the world’s population, the place where this bug first emerged, has only had 0.17% of the world’s COVID deaths?

Can the administration be this naive regarding decarbonization? Can they not recognize that the radical transformation and massive (MASSIVE) cost of their brute-force zero-carbon goal (especially with nuclear power removed from the equation) will be utterly pointless in the face of nations like China, Brazil, India, Russia, South Africa, and others not doing the same?
Hardly. Nothing I’ve offered here is deep-revelation. This isn’t really about the climate. It’s about reordering the economy and the structure of the nation, to put Washington in firmer control of everything. It’s not according-to-Hoyle socialism, but it sure rhymes with it, and they’re doing it because they are obsessed with power and control, especially of an ornery and recalcitrant populace. They, more than anything else, want (nay, demand) to be obeyed, and that is their true motivator.
As for the “useful idiots” who support this wholly illogical approach to global warming remediation? They fall into David Mamet’s definition of socialism: “the abdication of responsibility.” Since their team is proposing the measures, they defend them, with arrogance, condescension, and insults, and don’t bother thinking through the realities I’ve covered here.
They’re all liars, and they don’t even care that we know they are.

I have seen a few pro Nuclear Power videos on Youtube recently and one from a source that I had considered firmly in the Anti-category. so maybe that will gain some traction and public acceptance.As you have said if you are serious about AGW you should be pro-Nuclear Power. Fusion is still 30 years away, and probably will be for a long while.
I’m sure the thought on the all in anti Carbon people is that – one hopefully the rest of the world will see the sacrifice the USA is making and will follow suit, maybe they will think that they can make sacrifices as well and not lose ground economically to the USA, (forgetting others will see this as a chance to jump ahead, knowing economic power is real power) and two at least we’ll go knowing we did all we could, fought the good fight, went down swinging… I really think many believe the doom and gloom of the AGW message, and translate that into an extinction event for the human race. Even the worse case humans survive, maybe there is a drastic reduction in world population, which would correct the source of Carbon pollution.
It is a common refrain from the hopefuls that, if America does X, the rest of the world will follow suit. It’s also absurdly naive.
We are ceding economic power by decarbonizing. If we don’t use oil and coal and gas, it’ll simply be cheaper for other nations to do so. Meanwhile, the rare earths we’ll need in massive supply to go all-electric are mostly produced abroad, ceding even more economic power elsewhere.
People *want* to believe Malthusian doom – it somehow makes them feel better, especially if it enables them to scold others.
and don’t forget Rare Earth Metals aren’t rare they just don’t present themselves in veins like gold and iron. So you have to process a lot of dirt to get any.
but the environmentalist love strip mining so they don’t complain.
